4 new works from Launceston's 24-hour theatre pressure-cooker

Mudlark Theatre is stoked to be kicking off its 2008 Season by presenting a Launceston theatre institution – the next installment of the super-successful One Day series.

Staged in its new ‘home’ at the Annexe Studio, One Day 6 brings together the north’s best playwrights, directors and actors to create inspirational theatre at a breathtaking pace; 4 shiney new plays in just 24 hours.

Over the past 4 years, the 5 previous One Day projects have generated 24 new one-act plays and provided Launceston audiences with an opportunity to see exciting productions of comedies, dramas, thrillers, absurdist work and B-grade horror.

The One Day projects also offer a chance to get new and old theatre graduates from the School of Visual and Performing Arts working together as a broad ensemble, and showcase their collective passion and talent on the one night.

Some of the north’s most well-respected and courageous theatre artists are taking part in the one-off event.

Writers include Carrie McLean, Chris Rattray, Robert Lewis and Chris Jackson; directors include Peter Hammond, David Quinn, Paige Rattray and Angela Miller; and performers include Travis Hennessy, Stuart Loone, Nicole Jobson, Leigh Oswin, Clare Leonard, Emma Hardy, Laura Bishop, Mick Lowenstein, Jessica Brownrigg, Kai Raisbeck and Alyd Taylor.
