What the reviewers said:
“Stan Gottschalk engages us in an enthralling personal conversation. As director, Stuart Loone … has made sure that humour, tension and pathos are equally blended. There is a great sense of intimacy to the production and the audience often has to stifle itself from engaging in a dialogue with the librarian. This is one of delights of this play and this production. Mudlark Theatre deserves our support.”When a
Baedeker’s travel guide is returned over a century late, an
unassuming Dutch librarian takes us on a twisty mystery of a tale which
spans
millennia, continents and several repeat viewings of Les
Miserables.
Featuring Stan Gottschalk in a
reprise of the 2004 Centr Stage/Three River
production,
this gentle one-man-show is both a whodunit and an elegiac cry
for the Meaning of Life: a madly literate story which will uplift and
heal.
“Gottschalk
transforms an obscure librarian into an epic hero who’s journey leads us
towards our best dreams and highest ideals... Humorous, mysterious and
never dull, this
is a journey of the soul with the power to
transform” - Clem Gorman, The Examiner, 2004
