VISION + MISSION
Based in Launceston, Tasmania, Mudlark is an adult contemporary theatre company producing new work that is theatrically rich, socially current, and emotionally complex; crafted around the Tasmanian experience.
We aim to produce one fully funded show a year, have another in development for the year following, and around that, create development opportunities for Tasmanian theatre workers.
We aim to put Tasmanians on the stage.
HISTORY
Mudlark has created seven significant new works for the mainstage (I Am A Lake, U L G, The Possum, The Midlands, The Sea Project, Beautiful, Dancing Back Home, Cross, and Cafe). It has also reinterpreted a number more (Junk Rooms, Action, Rooted, Underneath the Lintel, What is the Matter with Mary Jane?).
Mudlark is also the home of the One Day project. The One Day Project provides an incredible opportunity for theatre practitioners to practice their craft and improve their skills. It builds our community and capacity as creative practitioners. We believe we can achieve the project and we believe in each other. The project distils the theatrical production experience to an electrifying 24 hours. It is challenging, it is risky, it is terrifying, but it is doable. And the rewards are amazing. Not only does the entire creative team feel thrilled, the audience understands what has been put on the line and they respond enthusiastically. Anything can happen during One Day… the result is always some really thought-provoking theatre.
Mostly you can find our performance history in the archive section of this website.
COLLABORATORS
As a company, Mudlark looks outward and is continually seeking partnerships with artists and art organisations. We value the extraordinary links we've made with companies such as JUTE, Arthur and Siren Theatre and are always on the look out for new creative collaborators, especially in our home state Tasmania.
OUR PEOPLE
Our board is made up of a core group of artistic members, balanced with skills based professionals. The broader Mudlark family is made up of artists and theatre professionals from Launceston and Northern Tasmania as well as artists from around the state and the country.
