"With its mix of poetry and naturalism, there is something about this work that just gets you and holds you" - Danny Gibson
Following critical acclaim and sell out shows in it’s world premiere season, Mudlark Theatre is excited to be bringing I Am A Lake to stages across Tasmania in February/March 2018.
Set on Tasmania’s rugged west coast, I Am A Lake is a coming of age story exploring the inextricably linked lives of Alice, Mum and Nugget. Alice is a young girl who knows her own mind; she knows she wants more, she perhaps knows more than she should, but she also knows there is something very big that she doesn't know. A deeply entrenched family secret haunts her nights, and threatens to submerge all her dreams.
Offering glimpses of humanity and compassion in a harsh landscape; I Am A Lake is a story that is both local and universal, compelling and confronting, and ultimately redemptive.
Suitable for age 15+. Mature themes and occasional coarse language.

Mudlark is an adult contemporary theatre company producing new work that is theatrically rich, socially current, and emotionally complex; crafted around the Tasmanian experience.
We produce one funded show a year, have another in development for the year following, and around that, create development opportunities for Tasmanian theatre workers.
Our signature event is our annual One Day project, which challenges artists to write, produce and stage plays within 24 adrenalin filled hours.
